Over the weekend president-elect Barack Obama admitted that he was having trouble kicking his smoking habit, in an interview with NBC News reporter Tom Brokaw.
Mr. Obama said, "There are times where I have fallen off the wagon, I've done a terrific job, under the circumstances of making myself healthier, and I think that you will not see any violations of these rules in the White House."
Eyebrows were also raised after an interview with Men's Health magazine in which Mr. Obama stated that he had smoked while on the campaign trail a couple times. He told the magazine, "but I figure, seeing as I'm running for president, I need to cut myself some slack."
He is absolutely right, an ordinary person cannot know what the pressures of running for president are especially in times like this. There is no need to point fingers and criticize especially when there are many politicians who have much nastier habits.
